This past weekend, the heaslip family got to participate in the Give Us Names sleep-over extravaganza/documentary screening. Give Us Names is an Atlanta-based non-profit that is working to protect and care for the three to five million people displaced in Colombia. While numbers are easily glanced over (e.g. that last sentence) and forgotten, Give Us Names is seeking to help those in need by telling the stories of individuals who have been threatened/starved/maimed off their land and forced to live in some pretty heinous settings. Individuals who used to have farms. And houses. And families. Because it starts to matter more when numbers are given faces and faces are given names.
They have a website that tells more of the story for those interested.
Pictured below are Sailor's two uncles, Miguel and Boon. She loves them.
